The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa has recently introduced a new national star-grading scheme. They will grade the following five types of accommodation using the same criteria: B&B, Guest House, Country House, Hotels and Lodges.

Safari Lodges Lodges are so very different all over Africa.
They can be simple tented, rustic, many are built of stone and thatch. Others are built in caves, and yet others are perched on
precipes, overlooking the plains or waterholes below.
Many of the luxurious lodges have their own plunge pool, or an outside shower, where you can get really back to nature.
Most lodges include all meals and at least two Game Drives or other activities daily, some include walking safaris, by day and night, yet others include boating safaris. Nearly all the lodges have a bar and hold the traditional "Camp Fire" in the centre of the camp on most evenings, this is something again that will live with you for the rest of your days |
